Spring Sprucing

Spring has definitely sprung here in Atlanta and so has the pollen! It’s exciting to get your outdoor spaces refreshed for the beautiful spring weather, but waiting for the yellow stuff to subside is probably best. While you’re waiting for pollen season to die down you can refresh some things inside your home for the new season. Here are our easiest and most cost effective suggestions.

  • Accent Pillows are the most cost effective and our favorite way to update and renew your home, inside or out! Refreshing your throw pillows can change an entire look. HomeGoods and Target have a great variety of pillows. We find most of our pillows at HomeGoods but you can allows splurge a bit and find beautiful custom ones at Etsy. You can go bright and bold or keep it neutral. It really just depends on what you love. Changing it up from year to year is fun too!

These Etsy vendors have some beautiful pillows: Linen and Ivory for neutrals and AccentMarks for bold, colorful patterns.

Having new pillows made is a great option as well and something I have been loving recently. For an incredible selection of fabrics, visit Lewis and Sharon Textiles, Forsyth Fabrics and my personal favorite Fabric and Fringe. Choose from a variety of colors, patterns and fabrics. You can even mix and match by adding a pretty border on your pillows!

  • Spring cleaning really is a thing! I’ve heard it said before that removing clutter from our homes actually improves our mindset. I believe that is true. To make it less daunting, designate a room, closet, or even a drawer a day and finish it all before moving to another activity. This is advice I need to take too. People that know me can attest to that! Some of our favorite organizational items are:

These seagrass baskets with lids are pretty enough to keep out on tabletops or shelves and can easily hide away items like remotes or other random things.

This acrylic lazy susan is super convenient for pantry spaces, makeup organization, arts and crafts, etc.

Lastly, this stackable water bottle holder is a game changer! If your house is anything like mine, you have a cabinet over flowing with water bottles and blender bottles. Keep everything contained and orderly with this! It’s the little things that make you feel like you have your life together.

  • Painting is a bigger endeavor, but boy does it pay off! Even if you don’t want to paint a whole room, painting trim every so often can really brighten your space. You never notice how scuffed your baseboards are until you start painting! White paints we love: SW Shoji White, BM White Dove, and SW Pure White (great for trim). Neutral paints we love: BM Revere Pewter, SW Realist Beige, and BM Revere Pewter. All paint changes depending on the direction the room is facing so be sure to paint a sample on a white piece of paper and place it in several spots around the room. Or call us for a consultation! ;) Benjamin Moore still offers sample sizes but Sherwin Williams has gone to peel and stick samples. (called Samplesize)

I hope these small tips get you excited about your to do list and the spring season!
